Lambskins and Sheepskins

This is a #3 grade Kalgan lamb plate.  This is an older plate with some discoloration.  The color does not match throughout the plate. The curls of Kalgan lambskins are not as tight as the curls of Pearl lambskins. The hair is 1" and 1.5" pile length and the hair length can vary throughout the same plate. Do not dry clean the skins as the dry cleaning process will remove the natural oils from the skin.

The plates make ideal rugs and are used for making dolls, Teddy Bears, and pillows. The skins we offer come from lambs that did not survive the harsh spring weather. These casualties of nature are processed in New Zealand to produce one of the world’s softest and lightest double-face leathers. These are sheepskins from Sweden with natural curly hair. They are thicker and heavier than pearl lambskins. There are no USFWS export restrictions for these sheepskins.

We have a limited number of panofix skins. This is a specially treated (hot ironed) sheepskin that has a shimmering look to it. Sheep are not an endangered species and are not subject to CITES controls. They are a by-product of the food industry.
