These are extra large brightened (lightly bleached) goat rawhides.
Goat rawhide is thin, does not have hair on it, and is ideal for making smaller hand drums, lamp shades, and craft projects. Bleached rawhide is a slightly heavier weight than regular rawhide. The weight varies somewhat from skin to skin. If you need a very thin piece or a heavier piece, let us know. We will do our best to accommodate small quantities. For orders of six or more skins, the rawhide will be shipped as a run with varying weights.
The extra large goat rawhides average 35" to 40" long and 34" to 39" wide.
Rawhide is also referred to as parchment or vellum.
The goat rawhide comes rolled. Individual pieces are shipped in heavy, cardboard tubes.
Goats are not an endangered species. The skins are a by-product of the food industry. The goats are not killed just for their skins.
