These are real mounted prairie rattlesnakes. These coiled rattlesnakes are approximately 2" to 4" in diameter and weigh approximately 0.3 ounces (8 grams). They are very small and light. One random coiled rattlesnake measured 3.75" by 2.75".
Please note that the coiling of each snake will vary. You will get coiled rattlesnakes that are similar to the ones shown in the photos, but not the exact ones. There will be slight variation from snake to snake.
Prairie rattlesnakes are not endangered.
A U.S. Fish & Wildlife permit is required for shipments outside of the United States.
Rattlesnake skin attracts bugs easily. The advice we received from the man who makes these is to use dry heat to kill the eggs and bugs. Put it in the oven at about 130°F for an hour or two. This will not damage the mount and should kill any bugs or eggs. Keeping it in an enclosed case should protect it going forward.
