The birchbark box is handmade by an artisan from the Slave Tribe in Fort Liard in the Northwest Territories. It is bound together with spruce roots on the lid and artificial sinew on the bottom, and decorated with dyed porcupine quills on the lid only. It is tied with a moose hide leather lace that may or may not be smoked.
A USFWS export permit is required for all shipments outside the USA.
