Porcupine Hair

We offer very fine hair and quills from African porcupines. The majority of the hair varies in length from about 12" to 18" (30 cm to 45.5 cm). The hair has been cleaned and sterilized. The porcupine hair come in 1 to 2 ounce bundles. Each buncle contains hair in a range of sizes and we cannot sort hair by length.The hair is thicker than that of the North American porcupine. It may or may not work for making roaches in the Native American market. Some people like it and some find it too thick....

These are assorted large African porcupine quills. The tips are good and the quills do not have any significant damage. The large quills are 9” to 12” long and 3 to 6 mm thick in the middle. These quills can be used for fishing bobbers. The quills have been cleaned and sterilized. A USFWS export permit is required for all shipments outside the USA. South African porcupines are not endangered.

These are assorted medium African porcupine quills. The tips are good and the quills do not have any significant damage. The medium quills are 5” to 9” long and 3 to 6 mm thick in the middle. These are assorted ultra thin African porcupine quills. These quills are thicker than porcupine hair, but are thinner than most people like. The ultra thin quills are mostly 10” to 12” long (some may be a bit longer or shorter) and under 1.5 mm thick in the middle. The quills have been cleaned and sterilized. The extra large quills are 12” or longer and 3 to 6 mm thick in the middle. These quills can be used for fishing bobbers. The quills have been cleaned and sterilized. These are assorted thick B-Grade African porcupine quills. The B-Grade porcupine quills are of a lower quality.  These quills may be bent, flattened, have broken ends, or otherwise flawed. They tend to have a stubby end instead of a sharp point, may have a more muted brown and white coloring instead of crisp black and white, and are often not as clean as the #1 or A-grade quills. This grade is what most other firms sell as A-grades. The thick B-Grade quills are mostly 4.5” to 13” long and...
