The Kidassia-style skin has long, thin hair that averages 6" in length, but can range from about 4" to 8" long. These are also called Western style plates. When sewn together, they make beautiful rugs.
These plates are approximately 4 feet (1.22 meters) long and 2 feet (0.61 meter) wide. Each weigh approximately 2 lbs (0.9 kg). Please see Sizes for more information.
The goatskins we offer are a by-product of the food industry. These skins are not subject to USFWS export controls or to CITES. They are NOT endangered.
To remove any dirt, brush along the nap (in the direction of the hair, not backwards) using a bristle comb or horse brush. To clean spills or extra dirty areas, use a very small amount of shampoo on a damp sponge. Sponge along the nap repeatedly. Rinse the sponge to remove the shampoo and dirt and repeat until the hide is cleaned. Dry using a towel running along the nap.
We measured some plates on the hide side to give you an idea of the size range for each color. The dark dyed colors tend to be smaller because they shrink due to dying process.
