This is bleached #3 grade deer rawhide. They are prepared in a light parchment color (i.e., like pale honey) using a hydrogen peroxide treatment. Its sound and strength is the same as the unbleached, but the unbleached rawhide is more malleable when wet.
You will be able to cut one 10-inch drum circle from one bleached #3 rawhide. There may be holes and other defects on the hide but they should not interfere with the drum circles.
The hides run from 45" to 50" in length and 25" to 30" in width (across the middle). The hides average 0.75 mm to 1 mm in thickness. Sizes and thicknesses will vary. The thinner ones usually tend to be smaller.
White tail deer rawhide is a bit thinner than red deer rawhide, but are more similar to each other in thickness than they are to elk rawhide.
Rawhide is also referred to as parchment or vellum.
White tail deer are not an endangered species. Not subject to CITES.
A USFWS export permit is required for all shipments outside the USA.
