These buffalo skins are full grain or top grain leather. They are NOT splits. They are ideal for project where large continuous pieces are needed. The texture is rougher than deerskin or moosehide. The skin also stretches less than deerskin. The tannery run skins are a mix of grades. They are not flawless and expect some holes and/or flaws.The buffalo leather is sold by the hide. Each hide is marked with its size. The natural hides average between 18 square feet and 28 square feet or larger....

The moose hide leather is sold by the hide. We do not cut hides to specific dimensions. They are on average 16.5 to 24.5 square feet. If you are making your own moccasins, you will need at least five square feet of leather. Please let us know if you need a smaller or larger hide and we will try to find the closest size for you.
